Why Do Witnesses (and others) Continue to Defend So STRONGLY Things That They Can't Absolutely Prove are True or Exist?
by Crisis of Conscience inthis is a little bit of a rant but i need to vent.
so i apologize if some things aren't clear.
just ask and i will do my best to explain.. i'm really trying to be patient with my wife.

If reading the Bible as a JW, why bother meditating?
by Crisis of Conscience ini was inspired to write this based on a post in another thread.. as a jw you are told to read and let the bible speak to you.. that would mean that you could reach a different conclusion on a certain scripture or account.
but that may not coincide with what the fds has as an explanation or conclusion.
this in turn, according to the standard makes you wrong if you "want" to be humble and wait for "new light.".

Excuses, Excuses, Excuses.......................About Jehovah
by Crisis of Conscience ini've had some people in the congregation lately try to give me pep talks to encourage me not to give up.. when i mention (not to everyone of course) some of the things that bother me about the org, many times they can't come up with a legitimate answer so they make up an excuse.. for example, i mention the double standards that i saw at bethel as well as the lack of love in certain brothers.
i get a blank stare and then an, "oh, that's because jehovah allows imperfect in the org.
but he'll clear things up when it's time.".

How many times have you read a post here and thought, "Wow, I thought only I felt that way about (insert spiritual/JW activity here)!"
by Crisis of Conscience ini was inspired by a few different things people said.. one dealt with if you pray(ed) regularly with your husband/wife.
a few people described how awkward they felt in doing it.
i felt like that for the longest time!

Thought Control - Yes, the JW's Use It Too
by Crisis of Conscience inthe following highlighted info is taken from pg.
62 of steve hassan's combatting cult mind control:.
if information transmitted to a cult member is perceived as an attack on either the leader, the doctrine, or the group, a hostile wall goes up.

Why do many of us spend so many years defending a God we MAY never meet?
by Crisis of Conscience inas a jw still in, i have been thinking about this.
(and i ask the question in the spirit of "millions now living will/may never die!
") lol.

It's amazing how many things in the publications and even talks are opinion but made to appear as fact.
by Crisis of Conscience inat the convention recently, i can remember different reasons being given as to why the end is near.
pick whatever one suits you best but basically it goes, 'because this and that has happened, the end is ever closer.'.
well here are some of my ridiculous opinions stated as fact, just to prove a point.. if you put pepperoni on pizza, there is no way a person will reject it.

For those still "in" for whatever reason, how long did it take you to disconnect from the things you were taught?
by Crisis of Conscience ini'm coming up on a year of when i first "woke up" regarding the org.
i still am "in" because i am trying to weigh out my options.
my wife is still mentally "in" and i know way to many people.
